Money in Antigua & Barbuda. Antigua & Barbuda is on the East Caribbean dollar (XCD), pegged at 2.70 to US$1.00. A stable peg is a gift and a trap: because the rate does not move, teams start treating the two currencies as interchangeable.
They are not. An amount is a number and a currency, and two amounts in different currencies added together are a number in no currency. We store integer minor units with a currency code, convert only at an explicit boundary, and never compare across currencies without converting first.
